Through simple, dynamic, and sensuous ink-wash brush strokes, my art integrates gesture, allegory, and emotion to interpret the vitality of life. Driven by innate resonance and 3 decades of Chinese Brush Painting mastery, my multicultural experience inspires new approaches to classical themes. Specializing in spontaneous Xiěyì 寫意 style, I express spirit and substance through harmony in duality.

 

Mayee is an award-winning exhibiting, teaching, and published visual artist. Her works are collected and commissioned internationally including Caesars New Orleans opening in Fall 2024 and the Los Angeles Center for Women’s Health at California Hospital Medical  Center. Mayee recently won BMW’s international design competition for the limited edition M4 GT4 and artist grants with the Picerne Family Foundation and Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Mayee co-authored six instructional art books, was showcased in several solo and group exhibitions, and featured on CNN and NTD TV.

 

Mayee teaches a diverse student population of all ages, skill levels, educational and cultural backgrounds, and life stages including those with minor to advanced physical disabilities and mental health challenges. She is an instructor at UCLA Extension, Huntington Beach Art Center, the Segerstrom Center for the Arts Arts-Teach program, Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre, Veterans Home of California, the Institute of Chinese Language and Culture, and Mayee Futterman Live-On-Line.

 

Mayee’s curriculum and instructional system are adaptable to any setting including preschool to high school, community education centers, corporate locations, art and cultural centers, and higher education. Her classes enjoy a worldwide following. During the pandemic alone, Mayee's classes reached approximately 25 countries in 6 continents and over 30 U.S. states. Her student retention is very high with over 1,400 new and recurring sign-ups totaling over 16,000 person-hours of teaching.

 

Mayee’s home, family, and art studio are in Long Beach. She teaches throughout Southern California and worldwide.
